So, there's conjecture that major Search Engines are "fingerprinting" revenue-generating links. Regardless of whether you believe the conspiracy, the theory exists: revenue-generating links could be negated for being ingenuine citations, hence not worthy of passing PR juice. Interesting theory.
Following that theory, a bot could probably interpret
affiliatename.com/thescript/?myid=12345 as being a money-generating link, just by seeing a known affiliate name and a querystring. If you want to make your links look less like sponsored links, do what tinyURL does. Use a redirection script and keep track of all your outbounds in a database. rewrite links to
/redir/h7sjI92.php, then redirect to your affiliate with the querystring... within the redirection script, cloak out the destination if the useragent matches a known bot.
Possibilities for making a huge and cumbersome hyperlinking system are endless; the potential complexity of a website is only limited by your imagination and is probably in proportion to your level of paranoia. Go forth and add complexity!
