Finally! it's done! my first facebook application is ready for prime time - representing Randomhaiku.com and putting a little random poetry onto your profile page.
It was launched this morning, and already 19 people have installed it. wow!
try it yourself:

GRANTED, not everything is working perfectly. All the logistics of "logging in" vs. "installing" are not very clear, and I had an awful time getting the PHP4 REST library to do anything (it's buggy as hell). As a result, I can't store as much of your personal information as I'd like to, hence the installation experience lacks some of the polite niceties that you may be used to.
And... I'll be the first to admit that the poetry itself isn't so hot. The new grammar engine has only been running for a few weeks, and it will take quite a while for me to enhance the vocabulary and parts-of-speech rules. But on the bright side, the custom lexica are complete and working perfectly in the new engine, allowing you to get a random haiku on a particular theme. Those too will be enhanced in the coming weeks with a self-serve vocab and theme manager. woot.
install it today
